Update instructions:

Step #1: Download New Software

    1. Insert a USB flash drive (such as the one supplied with your TC model cutter/trimmer) into your computer and create (or locate if exists) a folder called "CMC".
    2. In the CMC folder, create (or locate if exists) a folder called "update".
    3. The "update" folder MUST NOT contain any files with the ".mot" extension. All ".mot" files must be removed or renamed to a different file extension in order for the update to work properly.
    4. Download the desired software file from this page by clicking the appropriate "download" button, then move the newly downloaded ".mot" file into the "update" folder.
Alternatively, it may be easier to right click on the appropriate download button and choose "save link as", "save target as", or "download linked file as" (depending on your browser), then locate and select the "update" folder as the destination.
    5. When finished downloading, the file and path should be something like this:
(usb drive):\CMC\update\EE3400_xx-xx-xxxx.mot IMPORTANT! There must be ONLY ONE ".mot" file in the "update" folder in order for the update to work properly.

Step #2: Backup Machine Data and Settings

  1. Switch the machine power ON and make note of the compiled date shown on the startup screen. NOTE: If the compiled date is PRIOR to Aug 30 2016, you MUST perform the backup and restore procedures below or else damage to your machine could result!  For all other compiled dates, it is always a good practice to perform this backup as a precaution.
  2. Press "No Preset".
  3. If you have jobs stored in machine memory that you would like to keep, turn the power off, insert a USB flash drive in the machine, turn the power back on and press "No Preset".  From the top pull-down menu select "Job" -> "Existing Job" then click the "Copy All" button and follow the prompts on the screen to copy the jobs to the USB drive.
  4. From the top pull-down menu, select "Maintenance" -> "Setup" then click on the "Service Info" tab.
  5. Click inside the "Enable Tab Code" text box and when the keyboard pops up, enter the code: 6125 then press ENTER.
  6. Take pictures and/or write down the settings shown in all seven of the Setup tabs/screens.
  7. Select the "Options & Updates" tab and delete the jobs stored in the machine by pressing the "Press to Clear" button and follow the prompts on the screen.

Step #3: Update Machine with New Software

  1. Turn OFF the power to the machine being updated.
  2. With the machine's power turned OFF, insert the USB flash drive containing the new software file into the USB port on the front panel of the machine.
  3. Switch the machine power ON and press the "No Preset" button.
  4. From the top pull-down menu, select "Maintenance" -> "Setup" then click on the "Service Info" tab.
  5. Click inside the "Enable Tab Code" text box and when the keyboard pops up, enter the code: 6125 then press ENTER.
  6. Select the "Options & Updates" tab.
  7. The EE3400_xx-xx-xxxx.mot filename of the file downloaded in Step #1 should be displayed under the progress bar.
  8. Press the "Load Software" button and wait for the progress bar to turn 100% green.
  9. Press the "Program Flash" button. After about 1 to 3 minutes the machine will automatically reboot.  IMPORTANT! DO NOT TURN OFF POWER DURING THE PROGRAM FLASH PROCESS! If power is lost during this process, the flash programming could fail and the display assembly will have to be sent to Challenge Machinery to be reset.

Step #4: Restore Machine Data and Settings

  1. NOTE: If the compiled date from Step #2 was PRIOR to Aug 30 2016, you must perform the restore procedures below or else damage to your machine could result! For all other compiled dates, it is a good practice to check the settings below to make sure they are set properly.
